Note*Other information; Presumably a different man from the one that married Edith MAIDMENT. But where was he in the censuses? Where is his burial record? His signature in 1809 looks identical to that in 1798. How can that be? Edith MAIDMENT and Susanna MILES were alive at the same time. He is missing from each census, whilst Susanna appears in them in 1821, 1831 and 1851. Each time she is without him. He either died or abandoned her, we must assume. I will allocate him to the John NORRIS born in Kilmington in 1769, but at this stage there is no direct evidence that this is the correct match.

Where was this man in the censuses? Where was he buried? Why didn't he have any children between 1817 and 1830?

the last child, Rebecca, was aged 11 years old at the time of the 1841 census and was living with Edward GARRET (aged 77 yrs) and Susannah GARRET (aged 55 yrs).

If the allocation of him to the 1769 Kilmington John NORRIS is correct, then he was 2nd cousin to his wife Susannah MILES. 40 years is a high age for 1st marriage, but not impossible.
