Richard HATCHER was born in 1770 at Marnhull, Dorset, England; There are three possible candidates in Marnhull, baptised in 1770, 1771 and 1774. This one is allocated as the one baptised in 1770, based on the fact that he and his brothers were godparents to each other's children, and they all seemed to have converted to Catholicism at more or less the same time.
Also, the age at burial gives a birthdate of 1770 or 1771. It is possible that Richard and Maria HATCHER moved away from the area and that he was not buried in Marnhull, in which case the burial refers to another man of the same name. The one baptised in 1771 is allocated as the man who married Susanna HOW and moved to Compton Dundon in Somerset with this son Richard.
Richard HATCHER was baptised on 3 February 1770 at St Gregory's, Marnhull, Dorset, England.1

Elizabeth Shore HAWKINS was baptised on 2 February 1810 at St John the Baptist, Frome, Somerset, England; The baptismal transcript shows two children of Joseph & Elizabeth HAWKINS being baptised on the same day: Henry Shore aged 1 year and Latha Shore aged 4 yrs. On 3 Apr 1812, another child of this couple, Emma Shore, was baptised. I believe that "Latha" was a clerical or transciption error for "Elzth". If not, I am fairly certain that it is the right family, even if the 1810 baptism is not correct.2
