Gundry Sr. of Street) with their son James and daughter Elizabeth, both
unmarried."

"Henry Clothier's sister, Ann Clothier had already married Henry Gundry
Jr. of Street, (Elizabeth's brother). These two families lived on
opposite of the road at Middle Leigh. They all joined the Society of
Friends at its first establishment and were among its earliest martyrs."

"In 1698 the Manor of Street was sold." The Clothiers were able to
purchase the whole farms they had occupied, including the two farm
houses and extensive buildings."

"From that day to this have the descendants of Henry and James Clothier
lived in the same houses and farmed the lands of their ancestors at
Street."

The Clothier "family" seem to have been successful woolen manufacturers
and sheep yeoman / farmers.
James I, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Gundry) Clothier married Joane
Cote in 1686.
James II, was born 1688 and Died 1769.
James III, married- 1) Ann Gundry - m- 1755 she died 1756 no children

2) Mary Perris - m- 1765 had 5 children
3) Hannah Etherington - m-1795 had 10
children
James and Hannah (Etherington) Clothier's daughter Mary Clothier was born
in the farm house opposite the Tan Yard Cottage at Street, July-03-1774.
She married William Mullett of Ilminster - Gloucestershire.
James Clothier was in comfortable circumstances and the Mullett -
Clothier wedding was a notable occasion for the families and the Quaker / Friends
community of Street. A waiter stood behind each chair and the silver
service is still represented by two "tea-caddy" spoons, preserved in the
writer's family.

This is clearly a quote from somewhere which was pasted onto the relevant WorldConnect page. Not sure of it's origin.1
